Ajax Municipal Building
BBA was engaged to complete a space analysis and develop an expansion plan for the existing municipal complex to address a 20 year planning period. Through a series of user group and management meetings, it was determined all Town departments could be accommodated under one roof. This adaptive reuse project involved incorporation of existing Town Hall building with an abandoned Public Library and Post Office.
The new design incorporated and respected the architectural attributes of the original building with carefully designed building additions. Light coloured metal contracted with original architectural precast panels. Nautical references were incorporated into the main atrium. All public rooms have been labelled with local heritage buildings names.
